Nasogastric Feeding Tube

Visitube is bringing to market an endoscopically guided feeding tube. Feeding tubes are commonly used in the Intensive Care Units (ICUs) of hospitals to provide nutrition to patients when they are unable to eat on their own. Because these devices are generally placed “blindly”, the caregivers are uncertain of the location of the tip of the tube. As a consequence, feeding tube errors are quite common. These errors result in complications ranging from punctured lungs to pneumonia to death. Visitube’s strategy, licensed from the University of California, provides direct visualization and guidance in feeding tube placement. This approach decreases morbidity and mortality in the ICU, saving the healthcare system millions of dollars, thereby providing obvious advantages to patients, physicians, hospitals and payers.
